Sweet girl,
You are 3 months old! How do I have a 3 month old already?!? So many days just fly by, but I honestly cannot imagine life without you. This month has been so much fun! You are really beginning to take on your own look, and I love to hear people say how cute you are. I know I may be biased, but you are the most beautiful baby I have ever seen! I love your chubby cheeks, your big blue {for now} eyes, your cute little nose, and that precious mouth that brings that gummy grin with it! You weight about 14.5 lbs now, and I love every bit of your chunky little body. When people ask me if the time has gone too fast, I tell them that every day is so exciting as you experience new things that it is hard to be too sad about the time passing. I love going through all the newness with you! After all, it's my first time too :)
This month, you have started to really study things more and more. You love to just look at your toys, and if we leave them in front of you long enough, you will slowly reach out your hands to grab them. It's too cute to watch you think so hard about how to get that toy in your chubby little hands and bring it to your mouth. You also love to study people, and you know who your daddy and I are. Even though I sometimes wish you didn't notice when I left the room, it makes me smile to know that you know that I am your mommy. When new people hold you, you will just stare at them forever, studying their faces, and sometimes you aren't too sure about it because it's not mommy or daddy!
This month, your smiles have just kept coming! You are a lot more generous with them and will even smile at other people when they talk to you. I love when you wake up in the morning or from a nap, and when you realize it's me, you give me a sleepy little grin. Oh, and those sweet pacifier smiles--melt my heart!!! Nobody gets a smile out of you like your daddy! His silliness sure gets you going. You love to talk to your daddy a lot in the evenings, too! I think you will share his love for being chatty because you two can carry on some pretty long conversations already. He can really get you going when he asks you to "tell him more" or "oh yeah? What happened next?" It's just the most fun thing for me to watch! I need to get it on video for you soon.
Micah, this month, you have REALLY discovered your hands! Daddy and I think it's only a matter of time before you become a thumb-sucker. You will just watch your sweet hands, bring them together, and straight into your mouth. This does come in handy sometimes when you lose your pacifier! All the hand sucking has caused quite the drooling too. Your shirts are often soaking wet after you've really been busy with those hands. I love when we are driving in the car and hear you sucking away at your little hand, and then all of a sudden, complete silence because you have put yourself to sleep. Your hands have definitely been the newest big thing of your third month of life.
This month, we didn't do much traveling, which was very nice! We mostly just stayed at home and got into a good routine. I love being at home with you and playing with you every day. You are still eating every 3 hours and only wake me up once in the night to eat. You still sleep in the bouncy seat in our room, but we are about to make the big transition to the crib. I think you are ready to sleep in there, and as much as I will miss seeing your sweet, sleeping face next to my bed, I am ready too! You take about 3-4 naps a day, depending on how long you sleep each time. You usually nap for about 5 hours total. Naps are a bit of a problem because once you fall asleep, you are not very easy to move! And, you REALLY like to sleep in our arms or in the papoose. Sometimes, you will sleep in your swing, but you don't mind napping on mommy and daddy's bed! We are working on that :)
You had a few firsts this month. You went outside in the snow for the first time! Even though it has snowed 4 times since you were born, this was your first adventure in it. You weren't a big fan, but I think in a year or two, you will love it! You went to your first Super Bowl party, but I don't think you were impressed! You had your first Valentine's Day and got some fun goodies from your grandparents and some sweet cards from your great-grandparents. This month has been much more low key, and we have enjoyed all of our family of 3 time!
A few other discoveries from this month are that you tried out your bumbo seat, and you really LOVED it! Sometimes when you are fussy, I can put you in there, and you are immediately pacified by being able to see everything! You definitely love to watch what is going on around you, and if you are awake, you do not like being turned in. You have also developed a love for watching the TV. I think the sounds and changing colors are really intriguing for you! I can't decide if this is a good thing or a bad thing! You tasted your first tootsie roll pop and first popsicle this month too. You just licked and licked after that!
Baby girl, I could go on and on about all the things that are precious that you do and all the things we have done in the past month. You have stolen my heart in more ways than I knew was possible, and I cherish every sweet moment we have together. I love your sweet grins and your red-faced cries. I love making silly faces and singing silly songs with you, holding and bouncing you when you are screaming, and rocking you to sleep. I am in awe of the ways that God has expanded my heart to love you, and I am so blessed to be your mommy. You are perfect in every way, Micah Elisabeth. Happy three months!
I love you, to the moon and back!
Your Mommy
