four months

Miss Micah,

How has another month already passed by? This month has flown by, and you have changed so much! You are really beginning to develop your own little personality, and I love it! Your daddy and I are always talking about how much fun we are having with you, and I am oh so thankful that I get to spend every single day loving on you and watching you grow. I feel like every month that my heart has been stretched to the max with love for you, but somehow, I keep finding ways to love you more and more.

You smile constantly now, and it melts me every time! My favorite is when I pick you up in the morning, and once you find me with your eyes, you give me the most precious, sleepy smile ever. I don't think that will ever get old! You smile with your whole face, and I love seeing your little eyes light up. Your daddy gets the biggest smiles from you still, and he can make you grin no matter what your mood is. You can be super fussy, and all he has to do is make a silly face or noise to get a huge smile from you. I love that you love him so much! You are not stingy with your smiles but are constantly smiling at people.

You have such a fiery little personality. You know what you want, and you make it known! Sometimes, this brings with it some intense squealing and screaming, but you are determined and passionate. I love that about you already! Your precious giggle is getting more and more frequent, and I can't wait to hear you belly laugh. That will just make my day! You found your thumb this month, and although you are not a dedicated thumb sucker, you find it quite often. You are still my chunky monkey, and I can't imagine you without all those precious, kissable rolls!

You are "talking" a whole lot too! I love your sweet little voice and all the sounds you make. We can talk for minutes on end, especially when you are on your changing table. You talk to your toys sometimes too, which is too cute. You have really started to enjoy playing with toys this month, and you can entertain yourself for some time in your exersaucer! I love reading books to you now because you pay so much attention to the pictures and love looking at the colors on the pages. You still like to watch TV...it really captures your attention. I still can't decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing!

You love Wrigley and pay attention to him a lot. He even gets some smiles out of you when he walks by! One day when you were crying, he walked up and licked your cheek, and you immediately stopped crying and just smiled away at him. Oh my goodness...so precious! You love other dogs too, and when we visit your grandparents, you love to watch their dogs.

You are more alert all the time, and you LOVE to look around. You used to be able to sleep through anything, but you have become way too curious now. You like to be able to see what is going on around you and love to stand up on our laps. You are one strong little girl!!! One big thing that happened this month is that you rolled over for the very first time! On March 18, you rolled from your back to your tummy, and your daddy and I were so proud! I think we scared you with our excitement :) I love watching you learn to do more and more things.
This month was so much fun, and I know it will just keep getting more fun. This four month birthday was special for me because we got to share this day. I love sharing life with you, and you bring me so much joy. I love watching you splash in your little bathtub. I love rocking you to sleep. I love kissing your chubby cheeks. I love showing you off to friends and family. I love walking this journey with you. Daddy and I pray for you every night, and we are just totally smitten by you! You are just too precious, and I am so thankful to be your mommy. Happy four months, Micah girl! Lots of hugs and kisses...

I love you, to the moon and back!

wow

I guess it is official...I am the worst.blogger.ever. I think that because I am not reading blogs right now, I kind of forget to blog myself. I have had plenty of things to write about, but I just haven't made time for it. I figured that since it had been a week and a half since my last post that this might be a good time to break the drought.

Since it's been so long, I am just going to do a brief recap of what we've been up to rather than try to recount every detail.

My big sister turned 28 on March 22. Happy birthday, Lindsey!!! I have always thought that 28 was a good age. I guess when I was little it seemed grown up but not too old :)
Who knows?!?!? Sorry I didn't give you a shout out on your birthday, Linz, but here it is now! You have always been so special to me, and I have never known what it's like to experience life without you. I am so thankful that God made you my sister, and I love you!

Chris was supposed to have been in Ghana last week taking some donors on a trip to see both the children on the lake and those that have been rescued. Due to some transitions at the orphanage in Kete Krachi {the town right by Lake Volta}, the trip had to be postponed. Honestly, it has been nice to have him around, and I still think I am in denial about the fact that he will actually be going for an entire week soon. We are going to miss him like crazy!!!

Because he was going to be in Ghana, Micah and I had planned to spend the week in College Station with our families. My mom had already planned a combined birthday thing for my sister and me {our birthdays are just a couple weeks apart} for Saturday, so our little family made a short trip down to B/CS. We left on Thursday and came back on Saturday. While we were there, we spent quality time with both of our families, got to visit great friends and incredible kids at Kemp, and had a little birthday celebration. All of that and did I get a single picture??? NO! What is wrong with me? I think it's the constant flashing from the grandparents that makes me so lazy with my camera :) I will steal some pics later!

That's not all we've been doing, but it will have to be good enough. Hopefully this won't happen again, but I'm not crazy enough to promise anything this time! I'll leave you with a few pictures of my loves, one of whom will be 4 months old on Friday!!!

grandparent lovin!

Two out of the last three weekends, we have been blessed with visits from family! Micah got spoiled by both sets of grandparents, but I am honestly not sure if she was the most disappointed family member when they went home. I think that award would go to Wrigley! Poor boy is a little bit attention deprived these days.

Chris's parents and sister came to visit the last weekend in February. We had a great time with them but were sad when Pops got sick with the yucky stomach bug before they left! Our time with them was pretty uneventful, but Micah got LOTS of hugs and kisses. And, Mommy and Daddy got a little rest!

Last weekend, my parents came to visit. Micah went to her first play while they were here, and they were totally enamored by Micah's smiles and coos! Micah was definitely spoiled again with constant attention and arms ready to hold her. She never protests that :)

My mom, me, and my daughter...LOVE it!
We feel so blessed to have incredible families that love us and shower love on our daughter! We look forward to more visits soon! And, Wrigley misses all of you, too :)

Micah's first shopping trip

I haven't blogged in over a week, and honestly, I don't have an excuse except that I just haven't really felt like doing it. I have had pictures and stories, but when it came right down to it, I would rather be enjoying the beautiful weather or time with my family or getting things done around the house. And, I keep all of the pictures on Chris's computer because I prefer Macs, so I don't have the chance to blog {with pictures} until he is home from work for the day around 5. And we all know that it wouldn't be nearly as fun to read without pictures of a cute little chunky girl! All that to say, I will try to do better.

Last Friday, I took Micah on her first real shopping trip to Firewheel Mall which is an outdoor mall in Garland about 10 minutes from our house. I have to be honest that I don't necessarily LOVE shopping. It is fun to do every now and then, but I really have to be in the mood. We have been enjoying some amazing spring weather the last week or so here in the metroplex, and I knew that Micah and I needed to take advantage of it. So, I loaded her up, and we went to Firewheel.

I certainly wasn't the only mommy with the idea because we saw several babies and toddlers being pushed around in strollers. It was so nice to be outside in the nice weather, and Micah loved just looking around and soaking it all in. We of course had to make a stop by the Carter's store and picked up a few goodies for the little miss. I can never resist!

I guess I have officially initiated Micah into the girly world of shopping. I will say that it is a lot more fun when you have a partner in crime!

I have to include her modeling my favorite purchase from the day! She is just too cute!!!

Just wanted to note that this is actually my 100th post! It's hard to believe that I have already posted that many times in less than a year, but I have loved using this as a journal and hope you have enjoyed reading it. There will definitely be many more to come!

three months

Sweet girl,

You are 3 months old! How do I have a 3 month old already?!? So many days just fly by, but I honestly cannot imagine life without you. This month has been so much fun! You are really beginning to take on your own look, and I love to hear people say how cute you are. I know I may be biased, but you are the most beautiful baby I have ever seen! I love your chubby cheeks, your big blue {for now} eyes, your cute little nose, and that precious mouth that brings that gummy grin with it! You weight about 14.5 lbs now, and I love every bit of your chunky little body. When people ask me if the time has gone too fast, I tell them that every day is so exciting as you experience new things that it is hard to be too sad about the time passing. I love going through all the newness with you! After all, it's my first time too :)
This month, you have started to really study things more and more. You love to just look at your toys, and if we leave them in front of you long enough, you will slowly reach out your hands to grab them. It's too cute to watch you think so hard about how to get that toy in your chubby little hands and bring it to your mouth. You also love to study people, and you know who your daddy and I are. Even though I sometimes wish you didn't notice when I left the room, it makes me smile to know that you know that I am your mommy. When new people hold you, you will just stare at them forever, studying their faces, and sometimes you aren't too sure about it because it's not mommy or daddy!
This month, your smiles have just kept coming! You are a lot more generous with them and will even smile at other people when they talk to you. I love when you wake up in the morning or from a nap, and when you realize it's me, you give me a sleepy little grin. Oh, and those sweet pacifier smiles--melt my heart!!! Nobody gets a smile out of you like your daddy! His silliness sure gets you going. You love to talk to your daddy a lot in the evenings, too! I think you will share his love for being chatty because you two can carry on some pretty long conversations already. He can really get you going when he asks you to "tell him more" or "oh yeah? What happened next?" It's just the most fun thing for me to watch! I need to get it on video for you soon.
Micah, this month, you have REALLY discovered your hands! Daddy and I think it's only a matter of time before you become a thumb-sucker. You will just watch your sweet hands, bring them together, and straight into your mouth. This does come in handy sometimes when you lose your pacifier! All the hand sucking has caused quite the drooling too. Your shirts are often soaking wet after you've really been busy with those hands. I love when we are driving in the car and hear you sucking away at your little hand, and then all of a sudden, complete silence because you have put yourself to sleep. Your hands have definitely been the newest big thing of your third month of life.
This month, we didn't do much traveling, which was very nice! We mostly just stayed at home and got into a good routine. I love being at home with you and playing with you every day. You are still eating every 3 hours and only wake me up once in the night to eat. You still sleep in the bouncy seat in our room, but we are about to make the big transition to the crib. I think you are ready to sleep in there, and as much as I will miss seeing your sweet, sleeping face next to my bed, I am ready too! You take about 3-4 naps a day, depending on how long you sleep each time. You usually nap for about 5 hours total. Naps are a bit of a problem because once you fall asleep, you are not very easy to move! And, you REALLY like to sleep in our arms or in the papoose. Sometimes, you will sleep in your swing, but you don't mind napping on mommy and daddy's bed! We are working on that :)
You had a few firsts this month. You went outside in the snow for the first time! Even though it has snowed 4 times since you were born, this was your first adventure in it. You weren't a big fan, but I think in a year or two, you will love it! You went to your first Super Bowl party, but I don't think you were impressed! You had your first Valentine's Day and got some fun goodies from your grandparents and some sweet cards from your great-grandparents. This month has been much more low key, and we have enjoyed all of our family of 3 time!
A few other discoveries from this month are that you tried out your bumbo seat, and you really LOVED it! Sometimes when you are fussy, I can put you in there, and you are immediately pacified by being able to see everything! You definitely love to watch what is going on around you, and if you are awake, you do not like being turned in. You have also developed a love for watching the TV. I think the sounds and changing colors are really intriguing for you! I can't decide if this is a good thing or a bad thing! You tasted your first tootsie roll pop and first popsicle this month too. You just licked and licked after that!
Baby girl, I could go on and on about all the things that are precious that you do and all the things we have done in the past month. You have stolen my heart in more ways than I knew was possible, and I cherish every sweet moment we have together. I love your sweet grins and your red-faced cries. I love making silly faces and singing silly songs with you, holding and bouncing you when you are screaming, and rocking you to sleep. I am in awe of the ways that God has expanded my heart to love you, and I am so blessed to be your mommy. You are perfect in every way, Micah Elisabeth. Happy three months!

I love you, to the moon and back!

...coming soon...

We are all well in the Field household, and thankfully, Micah and I were able to evade the dreaded stomach bug! Chris is feeling better, and we are both thankful to have daddy back in action. I have been busy trying to sanitize my germy house, so Micah's 3 month post is in the works. I hope to have it done at some point tonight, so make sure to check back tomorrow morning {if you are interested, besides Mimi and Grandmommy :)}. Here's a little sneak preview of the precious girl at 3 months old!

postponed...

It sure is March 2, which means it is Micah Elisabeth's 3 month birthday! I intended to sit down and write my monthly post to her and do a super cute photo shoot to document the day, but Chris has got a terrible stomach bug. So, I am not thinking it is going to happen today. For the moment, Micah and I are evading it, but I am not in the clear yet. Prayers are appreciated that Chris gets better soon and that we stay well. Hopefully, my next post will just be about Micah being 3 months old and will not include any more sickness! Stay well, everyone.
